Today we are proud to share that Energize portfolio company Beekeeper – the leading platform for frontline workers – is joining forces with LumApps in a $1.1 billion transaction. Together, they will form the category-defining AI Employee Hub, unifying the digital workplace for both desk-based and deskless teams worldwide.
This marks a significant milestone for Beekeeper and a meaningful moment for Energize. It reflects a thesis we’ve been committed to since our earliest days: The software layer enabling the energy transition is broad – and horizontal platforms like Beekeeper can be foundational to scaling the infrastructure, workforce, and operations needed to accelerate this next phase of the economy.
In 2019, Energize conducted a research deep dive into the “Connected Worker.” We believed then, as we do now, that the 2.7 billion global deskless workers – from field technicians to factory staff – had been largely ignored by traditional enterprise software. The electricians, linemen and mechanics literally building and maintaining the infrastructure powering the energy transition were still operating with pen and paper. Despite their essential contributions, frontline workers received less than 1% of enterprise IT budgets for technology. That gap represented a massive opportunity.
Beekeeper’s mobile-first, user-centric platform stepped in to bridge that divide. The Frontline Success System enables communications, streamlines operations, and improves engagement and safety at scale. For distributed “hands-on” teams, Beekeeper became indispensable.
Our conviction in Beekeeper was solidified not just by the product or market, but by the team. Co-founders Cris Grossmann, Flavio Pfaffhauser, Daniel Sztutwojner, and Andreas Slotosch were not building software from behind a desk – they were out working shoulder to shoulder with their users. Few tech founders are willing to “put the hard hat on,” but Beekeeper did – in many ways!
Since our initial investment in late 2019, the Energize team has been a dedicated partner on Beekeeper’s journey. We joined the Board of Directors and our whole firm has worked closely with the Beekeeper team as the company evolved from a frontline communication platform into a powerful operational hub. Over the past few years, Energize supported Beekeeper to:
Today, over 40% of Beekeeper’s customer base is tied to energy and industrial customers – a testament to the opportunity in Energize's thesis areas and to the Beekeeper team’s disciplined execution.
The combined LumApps-Beekeeper platform will serve over seven million users across 2,000 clients, with over $150 million in recurring revenue. It is a true category leader, built by two founder-led teams who understand the evolving needs of the global workforce. We are thrilled to have played a part in building an enduring company that lifts up the very people doing the work.
For Energize, it’s a moment of celebration – both for the exit and for the mission. Powerful climate and industrial innovation comes in many shapes, and this one proves that real progress comes from building the right software for the right people. We are reminded that the best companies evolve without losing their core identity and that the best products have a way of simply solving customer problems. The most resilient teams are led by founders who are all-in, who grow through adversity, and who stay relentlessly focused on the people they serve. Beekeeper’s journey is a testament to that ethos.
Congratulations to co-founders Cris, Flavio, Dani, Andreas, and the entire Beekeeper team on this incredible milestone.
